Weekly Grocery and Meal Planning #8 - Dec 18
GROCERY LIST
Supermarket
- Pangasius
- Pre-made chicken
- Cabbage
- Carrot
- Pork roll
I kept the groceries at minimal this week, as we flew to Gran Canaria to spend Christmas holidays on Saturday morning. I was also able to finish all urgent tasks by working overtime often to forget about work for the next two weeks and enjoy my peace. This year was intense, especially the last couple months in terms of work. However I'm excited to rekindle the fire in me about work with recent R&R shift and getting my ongoing project expanded further for next year.
| Monday lunch: quickly whipped up open egg bacon sandwich |
| We looked after my boss's dog again for few days, and this is the only food that he showed great interest in. |
Monday dinner: chicken veggie bowl I normally buy raw chicken thigh and cook them, but decided to buy pre cooked chicken slices to focus on work and spend less time on cooking. |
| Tuesday lunch: Office meal with sausage, potato, and sauerkraut |
Tuesday dinner: Pork roll, sweet potato, veggie with apple sauce The pork roll was also an oven-ready dish sold at supermarket, but the meat was very dry and unappetizing. |
Wednesday lunch: Veal schnitzel I am not a fan of schnitzel or deep fried food in general, but we had our partner company visit us for business lunch from Germany. And what better food to have with Germans other than schnitzel? |
Thursday lunch: Team lunch at Bolenius I've been interested in this restaurant for a while. Their specialty is restaurant-grown vegetables, and this was the main reason why I never went here with my own money. |
This starter apparently had 20 vegetables all grown at the restaurant. While the dish was very interesting and fresh, I do not think I would revisit this restaurant. I prefer restaurants that focus on the cooking, rather than growing their own vegetables which takes an extreme amount of human and other resources. |
| Their turkey dish was also delicious to be fair. |
Friday lunch and dinner: Pangasius, rice, miso soup I checked the fridge and tried to use up the ingredients before we leave for holidays. |

| Saturday dinner: Hotel Faro at Gran Canaria offered half board for 15 Euro pp, and signing up for this was absolutely worth every penny. We get to choose one starter, one main, and grab food from the buffet area on top. |
This hotel's buffet is one of the highest quality I've seen with lots of fresh and expensive proteins from seafood and meat, along with amazing dessert and refreshing salads and diverse cheese and jamon to choose from. Also every day the dinner's theme changes slightly with the buffet to keep it exciting for the guests staying for multiple nights. The picture is a tiny sneak peek of the buffet area with honeycomb! |
I'm very glad that I get to end this year enjoying the sun and warm weather again. Wish all of you guys happy holidays reading this post as well! |
